http://www.nst.com.my/Current_News/NST/Sunday/Focus/20070929191152/Article/index_html2007/09/29Spotlight: Is this how we treat man's best friend?"... IT is one day an 11-year-old girl will unlikely forget. On July 15, a group of armed men stormed into her neighbourhood in Labuan and shot her pet dog twice in front of her house compound. They hoisted the badly wounded dog, still kicking alive, by its tail and left.Jonathan Ang, father of the Year Five student, says his daughter is still having nightmares and has yet to recover from the trauma. The 20 to 30 “trained sharp-shooters” were deployed by the Labuan Corporation's Veterinary Department to eliminate strays in the area, with help from the People's Volunteer Corp (Rela). In the 12-day operation which started on July 9, 471 dogs were killed, falling short of the targeted 500."(Check out the link and read more about the article...)

it's another sad case of the government's pea sized brain..prior to this, some nuts in KL (well pardon my ignorance, kl/shahalam/pj/subang/puchong is all KL) proposed a catch dog competition. luckily it was called off at the eleventh hour. maybe we need to gather all dogs and do the Walk for Right to Live. bring the pigs along. no seriously, there has got to be some animal welfare bodies who could do some lobbying?are we for real, malaysians?Bear - write a letter to Malaysiakini. let's start a petition rollingEDits-i tried to read the article... but i refrained.

Currently China did the same thing around Beijing. I can't believe our countryman did the same thing. Aren't we a multicultural country. If after 50 years of independent, we still can't accept each others. There fore send a astronaut to space even to moon is meaningless.

The very last sentence in that report goes like this.....“Every country recognises animal cruelty, except ours,” says Chin.------------------------Well, totally boleh what and where others tak boleh.------------------------Although I am not an animal-lover, I am against cruelty towards them.Boleh tak?--------------

for sure the kids get trauma for watching alive the shooting part..including the loud sound.....i am an animal lover...im a volunteer...i touch dog sometimes...and i speak to them...---but how about this?:"Chin says irresponsible owners who allow their dogs to breed but turn the puppies to the streets are equally at fault."we just cannot observe something from 1 side....
