Kuala Terengganu

Kuala Terengganu

Pasar Payang
Pasar Payang is the central market of Kuala Terengganu where it is located nearby to the Terengganu River. For those first timers visiting Terengganu, the Pasar Payang is definitely the place to stop by as one can find almost every thing from traditional items to exotic collectables. One of the most popular things in the Pasar Payang is the traditional textiles. As we all may or may not known, Terengganu is one of the best producers of batik and songket in Malaysia, therefore, one can find that all of these items such as batik, songket, silk garments, batik shirts, scarves and other textiles products are abundant in the Pasar Payang. Aside from all these textiles products, the fresh “Keropok Lekor” can also be found inside the Pasar Payang as the “Keropok Lekor” is one of Terengganu’s most famous local snacks.

Maziah Palace
The Maziah Palace is situated grandly nearby to the pier transporting Berjaya Redang Beach Resort’s guests to the Redang Islands. The Maziah Palace is said to have been built on the year 1897 during the ruling of Sultan Zainal Aiden III. The architecture, the design and the decoration of the Maziah Palace clearly reflects the artistic skills of the local people as it is the blend of modern and traditional form of architectural designs. Nowadays, the Maziah Palace is mainly used only as a venue for the royalty’s birthdays and weddings.

China Town
China Town is located just 10 minutes walk away from the Maziah Palace. It is hard to miss the China Town as there is a huge gate standing tall at one end of the street. Upon the first glance of the street, one can feel that the street hasn’t change much since the early days as most of the shop house at both side of the streets still remains as wooden shop houses. In addition to that, the architectural build of these shop houses are slightly identical to the chinese shop houses in Malacca. For the visitors who admires these historical architectures, the China Town is a place worth going to as walking pass through the streets will surely provide the visitors the same kind of atmosphere where the local chinese there once experienced. In addition to that, there is a chinese temple located at the China Town where this chinese temple was built roughly 200 years ago. One thing that is magnificent about this chinese temple is that, the temple was built using only joints and not one single nail is used during the building of this chinese temple.

There are some recommended accommodations here in Kuala Terengganu where these accommodations include places like the Grand Continental Hotels or the budgeted Ping Anchorage accommodation.
