Batu Gajah

Batu Gajah

Kellie’s Castle
During the year 1915, the Kellie’s Castle was constructed to resemble the home of the Scottish Planter, William Kellie Smith. Unfortunately, the construction of the Kellie’s Castle came to a halt when William Kellie Smith passed away in the year 1926. Because of this reason, the constructions of the Kellie’s Castle were aborted and the Kellie’s Castle was left in ruin. Regardless, the Perak State Government made some efforts in order to salvage this impressive piece of architectural structures and therefore, converted it to become one of the famous tourist attractions here in Batu Gajah. However, some rumor has it that the Kellie’s Castle is a haunted castle and there are numerous hidden rooms and underground tunnels inside Kellie’s Castle. Without any regard to the validity, these rumors can certainly add some sparks to the heart of the visitors.
