The Selangor state which is located at the west coast of Malaysia is known as the richest state and as well as the state with the largest population in the whole of Malaysia. Besides located at the west coast, the Selangor state is also bordered by the Perak state, the Pahang state, the Negeri Sembilan state and as well as the Straits of Malacca. On top of all these, the Selangor state also fully surrounds the federal territories of Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur.
Compared to the population in the whole of Malaysia, the Selangor state has the highest population count amongst all the state in Malaysia where the total population counts of the Selangor state falls roughly around 4100000 people. The state capital of the Selangor state is known as Shah Alam whereas the royal capital is known as Klang. Aside from these two districts, there are another eight main administrative districts here in the Selangor state and these eight administrative districts are known as Gombak, Hulu Langat, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Langat, Kuala Selangor, Petaling, Sabak Bernam and Sepang as well.
During the 15th century, the Selangor state was under the ruling of Malacca before the downfall of the empire. Shortly after the defeat of the Malacca empire in the hands of the Portuguese, the Selangor state became a highly sought after area between the Portuguese, Johor, Aceh and as well as Siam. After series of dispute between these forces, the British started to intervene with the administration of Selangor during the year 1874 by forcing the Sultan of Selangor to accept a British Resident. One of the reason that gave a window of opportunity to the British to intervene was the sudden boom of economy due to the discovery of tin reserves and as well as rubber. In the year 1896, under the coordination of British Resident Frank Swettenham, Selangor alongside few other states (Negeri Sembilan, Perak and Pahang) formed the Federated Malay States. Soon after that in the year 1948, the Federation of Malaya was founded and subsequently in the year 1963, the Federation of Malaysia was founded and everything is what we all see today.
For being the richest state in the whole of Malaysia, the Selangor state can be said to have one of the most well diverse economies when compared to other states. It is said that Selangor state has one of the most well diversify economies due to the reason where the agricultural industries, the industrial industries, the commercial industries and as well as the tourism industries are all one of the major contributors towards the economy of the Selangor state. During the economy recession in the year 1997, the Selangor state suffered drop in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). However, with the strong foundation of the Selangor state, the rate of the GDP is expected to recover in a few years time.
For the tourism industries of the Selangor state, most of the visitors here will very well find that the visit to the Selangor state can be fun and entertaining. The reason behind this is because within the Selangor state itself, there is a very good combination of natural attractions and as well as various modern attractions such as a theme park and various shopping arcades. The climate here in the Selangor state is sunny and warm throughout the year with an occasional down pour or cloudy days.
All in all, the Selangor state is indeed a very wonderful and interesting state, just like each of the unique states which are located at all around Malaysia.
