Introduction about Johor


In Peninsular Malaysia, Johor is considered as one of the largest states in Malaysia. The reason is because for Johor, the total area of the Johor state extends over 18000 kilometer square. Johor is actually located at the lowest southern of peninsular Malaysia, with Malaysia’s neighbouring country, Singapore. The name Johor actually is believed to be derived from the term “Jauhar”, which literally means “Precious Jewels” in Arabic terms. Many believe where this term is very well related to the Arab traders trading spices in the early days of Malaysia.

Sometimes, there are some people out there who might be confused over the capital of Johor with the state itself. The reason behind this is because, the name of the capital of Johor, Johor Bahru is almost identical to the name of the state itself. Besides that, there are 8 main administrative divisions (or better known as Daerah in Malay) here in Johor. The 8 main administrative divisions are Muar, Batu Pahat, Pontian, Johor Bahru, Kluang, Kota Tinggi, Mersing and Segamat. The total populations here in Johor as of 1997 are more than 2.5 million and counting.

Malaysia, including Johor, is actually one of a multi-racial multi-cultured country here in Asia. Because of this fact, Malaysia is always a very attractive and interesting destination for most of the travelers as Malaysia itself has a lot of diversities and cultures. Johor itself of course, is one of the most frequently visited states in Malaysia because there are various interesting attractions which are available in Johor, some of these attractions include Johor’s rich histories, colorful cultures, challenging golf courses, shopping, golden sandy beaches and various local delicacies.

Aside from that, due to the fact where Johor is linked to Singapore by causeway and second link, Johor constantly has Singapore’s visitors coming in and out from Johor for various purposes such as shopping, eating or for business purposes. With such constant foreign currency flowing in and a steady economic cycle, Johor is considered to be very prosperous throughout the whole year when compared to other states like Perak or Negeri Sembilan.

Actually, as most of us may already know, Johor is one of the most developed states here in Malaysia. With thousands and thousands of visitors annually, Johor is no doubt one of the perfect spot for different purposes be it business or leisure.
